As the school year ends and social distancing efforts continue because of COVID-19, the City of Somerset is hosting a contest to encourage local youth to keep reading while they’re staying healthy at home.
The Read with Spirit Contest is open to city residents ages 4 to 18. To participate, children and teens are asked to read one or more books and complete a drawing or book summary to accompany each. Activities for each age group are as follows:
- Ages 4 to 8: Submit a drawing of a scene or the book cover
- Ages 9 to 12: Submit a 50-word written summary
- Ages 13 to 18: Submit a 100-word written summary
Prizes will be awarded to winners in each category. The deadline to submit entries is Monday, June 1, 2020. Download the entry form and complete contest guidelines here.
